South Snohomish County Fire & Rescue is dedicated to protecting life, property and the environment for the nearly 250,000 residents of southwest Snohomish County. We serve unincorporated areas and the partner cities of Brier, Edmonds, Lynnwood and Mountlake Terrace.
We provide full-time staffing at 14 fire stations strategically located to provide prompt emergency response across the 50-square-mile area of southwest Snohomish County. All firefighters are certified as either emergency medical technicians or paramedics. About 80% of the 911 calls we receive are medical emergencies.
Prevention and educationIn addition to standing ready to respond to a wide range of emergency situations, we’re also here to help you prevent those emergencies from happening in the first place. Your firefighters work with full-time staff to provide fire and injury prevention services, public education and innovative services such as our community paramedic program.
Organization and partnerships
South Snohomish County Fire & Rescue was created by voters in August 2017. We are a Regional Fire Authority (RFA). An RFA is a special purpose district – like a school district - that is made up of the City of Lynnwood and Fire District 1.
We also serve the cities of Brier, Edmonds and Mountlake Terrace. Those cities have long-term contracts with us to provide fire and emergency medical services.
As stewards of your tax dollars, our elected commissioners and staff continue to implement regional partnerships and innovative solutions to improve efficiency and service delivery.
