Community Emergency Response Team

Fire District 1 offers Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training for citizens interested in learning how they can help their community during a major disaster.

During a regional emergency such as an earthquake or other disaster, firefighters and other first responders may not be able to meet the heavy demand for their services. People will have to rely on each other to meet many lifesaving and life-sustaining needs. CERT classes teach citizens about readiness, basic disaster first aid, search and rescue operations, how to put out small fires and the psychological effect of disasters.

The class is free; however, students will need to create (or purchase) a home disaster kit and purchase personal safety equipment to participate in some class activities.

Fire District 1's CERT class will be offered in the fall.
Classes will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 10 p.m. September 14th through October 12th.
